Thane Road, Juneau July 4th 1916 (Tuesday) 12:00AM | Location: from Thane to Juneau, along the Thane Road The Fourth of July sporting events at Juneau. G. N. Finley won the marathon race from Thane to Juneau and the 20 dollar first prize, with O. M. Vincent second for 10 dollars. "Marathon" is the 1916 usage for any long foot race rather than the modern distance. The Dispatch printed a single time for the race, 21 and a half minutes, without saying which man ran it; it is recorded here against the winner. Judges: Pat White, Ralph Healey, Ned Moe and Lester Gore. Timers: H. Crowther, Lester Gore and Ralph Healey. Official starter: Pat Scott.
