Douglas Fourth of July Race Douglas Bridge to Douglas BallparkThe men's foot race from the Douglas bridge to the Douglas ballpark, Saturday 4 July 1970. Guy Thibodeau, 19, of Juneau won in 11 minutes 47 seconds, from Dave Thomas, 17, and Tom Cook, 15, both also of Juneau. The Empire gives the course only as "a distance of more than two miles", so no distance is recorded and the pace column reads N/A. The 1966 and 1968 reports of what appears to be the same race both call it two and a half miles, but that is their measurement and not this one's.
