CBJ Juneau Marathon GlacierThe 26 mile CBJ Juneau Marathon, run by the Juneau Parks and Recreation Department. DATE: recorded as 28 July 1978, which is the only date any source gives for this race - the Juneau Empire of 8 June 1978 announced the department's marathon as "scheduled for July 28". Two caveats worth carrying: that is an announcement rather than a report, and 28 July 1978 was a FRIDAY, where every other race in this record falls on a Saturday. Saturday the 29th is the obvious alternative if a results clipping ever settles it. The event previously carried 10 June 1978, which cannot be right: the Empire describes that Saturday as a 10-mile and 6-mile Road Run held as TRAINING for this marathon. That Road Run is recorded separately, as is the Parks and Recreation mini-marathon of 15 July - 1978 had at least three of these races.
