Fourth of July Foot Race
| Juneau-Douglas Bridge to Douglas | The annual Fourth of July foot race, two miles from the Juneau-Douglas Bridge into Douglas, run on the holiday itself. The Empire printed the top twenty-five finishers.
Steve Schmitz won in 9:22, eight seconds ahead of Guy Thibodeau. Schmitz had been preparing for this race since May, and the Empire's report on the Governor's Cup a week later looked back on it as his day in the sun.
Only the first twenty-five are recorded; the size of the rest of the field is not known. | DefaultRaceDirector Unassigned | 1980-07-04 14:00:00 | no | no | yes | Registration Form |
