The course began near Arlington National Cemetery, wound through Georgetown, past the monuments and the Capitol Mall, and finished back near Arlington at the Iwo Jima Memorial. Only Fools Run at Midnight
Centennial Hall, Juneau

The annual Only Fools Run at Midnight, a five-kilometre run with a mile-and-a-half walk alongside it, starting beside Centennial Hall as Saturday 21 June 1997 became Sunday. Costume and centipede prizes, with divisions for masters, men, women, children, wheelchair, centipede and businesses. Sponsored by the Juneau Empire, Alaska Airlines, KJUD, KINY and KSUP, with preregistration at the Juneau Racquet Club. The race was a fund-raiser for Muscular Dystrophy of Alaska; much of the twenty-dollar entry went to in-state programmes, and pledge sponsorship raised over ten thousand dollars the previous year.
