The Habitat Division of the Department of Environmental Conservation supervised the course to avoid damage to the wildlife. Art Rodriguez won in 46:42, seventeen seconds ahead of Phil Peck. Mary Hakala took the women's open division in 57:31. Forty-three finishers are listed, in six divisions. Margaret Levitt was last in 1:42:42 and was given a 25 dollar gift certificate for it. The course ran Fish Creek to Salmon Creek this year. By the fourth annual in 1984 it was being run in the opposite direction over the same 7.9 miles.
