The 1989 Flannigan's Run, five miles at Douglas on Saturday 18 March. Twenty-nine men and seven women. Rick Thibodeau won in 27:57 from Andy Grossman in 28:36 and Steven Schmitz in 29:19. Leslie Weaver led the women in 38:35, with Cheryl Fecko a minute and a quarter back. Sharon O'Toole is the seventh and last of the women and the paper prints no time against her, so she is recorded as a finisher without one. The archive's eight numbered Flannigans do not agree with each other. The 1985 running is called the 3rd, 1986 the 4th, 1987 the 5th, 1993 the 11th, 1998 the 16th and 1999 the 17th, all of which count back to a first running in 1983 - but 2002 is called the 19th and 2003 the 20th, which count back to 1984. Somewhere between 1999 and 2002 the club's own numbering lost a year. Counting forward from the earlier six would make this the 7th; the clipping does not say so, and the race is left unnumbered here rather than given a number nobody printed.
