Distance: 5 miles, with a separate 1.5-mile run for youngsters Location: Fish Creek Road, the road to Eaglecrest, starting one quarter of a mile from its intersection with Douglas Highway; finish at the day lodge Course: all uphill on road. The youth run starts at the base of the last hill before the day lodge. Start Time: 9:00 AM for both races. Register between 8:00 and 8:45 at the quarter-mile starting point; runners in the youth run must be driven to their starting line. Registration Fee: 5 dollars Contact: Jerry Buckley, 789-3132 The Southeast Roadrunners' annual Labor Day Eaglecrest Road Run. The Southeast Roadrunners' Labor Day Eaglecrest Road Run of Monday 3 September 1990, five miles up Fish Creek Road to the day lodge, with a separate mile-and-a-half run for younger runners starting at the base of the last hill. The Empire called the race "something of a hybrid of the Only Fool's Run at Midnight and the Mount Roberts Trail Challenge": like the Fools' Run it is on a road and draws a large crowd, and like the Mount Roberts run it is all uphill and demanding. "Organizers of the five-mile run offer a number of incentives for taking part: good training for the Klondike Road Relay, Empire Cup points, because it's there. The best incentive, though, may be breakfast-type snacks provided by the Nordic Ski Club at the finish line." The only source found for this running is that preview, published on the Friday before the race, so what is recorded here is what was planned rather than what happened.
