Perseverance Trailhead August 14th 2021 (Saturday) 7:00AM | All three races start and finish at the end of Basin Road near the Perseverance Trail. Each race is run mostly on stunningly beautiful trails with a significant amount of climbing (more than 5,000 feet elevation gain for the 50K). The 25K course is on Basin Road, Perseverance Trail, Red Mill Trail, the Glory Hole overlook, Granite Creek Trail, and Mt. Roberts Trail. The 50K is the same as 2019, but the order of the sections is changed. You will run the Flume and Salmon Creek Trail first, then the 25K course. The 10K is out and back on Basin Road, Perseverance Trail, Red Mill Trail, and the Glory Hole overlook. Because we have volunteers out on the trails in sometimes marginal weather, we cannot accommodate an early start and must impose a time limit of 7 hours for the 50K. If you cannot finish the 50K in 7 hours, please sign up for the 25K. It is still a beautiful and challenging course. This is a Juneau Trail and Road Runners Club event. JTRR is an affiliate member of the Road Runners Club of America. (9 records) | Keith Levy leg+:no club:yes cup:yes results: yes pics:yes |

From this point the rest of the course remains the same as in past years. Please refer to the map below. Touch (or not) the cross and your race is complete. Be sure to note your time. If you run when the tram is not operating, you must make your own way back to the starting point at your leisure. The tram is currently operating Fridays through Sundays 10 am to 6 pm. The route is approximately 2.5 miles with an 1800-foot climb. Carry your own water. Watch for bears, watch your footing, and be safe! Enjoy your time in the mountains. (22 records) | Linda Kruger leg+:no club:yes cup:yes results: yes pics:no |

Powerline trail trailhead near Gladstone Street June 19th 2021 (Saturday) 10:00AM | 1 mile runners will run an out and back. Look for a turn-around sign 1/2 mile down the trail. 4.9 milers will run along Powerline trail towards Mendenhall Glacier. Continue past the water hole, up the stairs, across the bridge, counter-clockwise around East Glacier Loop and return the way you came. Trail junctions will be marked with direction signs and small flags. Don't take the side trails that connect to Under Thunder Trail or the road - the course is always on trail. At the top of the East Glacier Loop avoid the temptation to go to the scenic outlook (you don't have a good view of the glacier there anymore anyway)...turn left at the top to head back down (a right turn will take you on the Nugget Creek Trail and you will be lost...though there is a nice 3 sided structure up there I am told). Virtual June 5th 2021 (Saturday) 12:00PM | You commit to running (or walking no judgment here) a 5K, and then you recruit 5 of your best friends to do it with you. Then you all get together (but stay apart) and sometime between now and June 5, you each (at a distance) log a 5K. You submit your results and then we give you props (sorry, did you think we were going to say that you get a finishers medal? #BlingIsBadForTheEnvironment HOWEVER, for the first 25 people to register, we DO have snazzy commemorative pint glasses that we will either mail to you or let you pick up in person (eventually). Dont worry, well keep track. Also, did we mention that this is a Nugget Alaskan Outfitter Cup (NAOC) race? No? Well, now you know. Blueberry Hills access (snowmachine trail) on the Treadwell Ditch Trail May 29th 2021 (Saturday) 9:00AM | This is an out and back 10k run on the Treadwell Ditch Trail. Start and finish are at the Blueberry Hills access to the Ditch Trail (also known as the snow machine trail). From the parking lot runners will head up the access trail for one-third of a mile, then go right (north) on the Ditch Trail. At 3.1 miles turn around and come back the way you came. Lena Picnic Area May 15th 2021 (Saturday) 12:00PM | 5 kilometer and 1 kilometer distances to select from. NAOC points will be awarded once for each course you run. If running a course more than once, please submit your best time only per course. You must also register separately for each distance you run. Only register once for each course. Both distances start and end at the Lena Picnic area. The start and finish for both distances will be on the paved Lena Loop Beach/Picnic access road. 5k runners will take a left onto Lena Loop Road and go towards Glacier Highway. They will turn right onto the highway (staying on the right side of the road). They will then take the first right off of the highway onto Pt. Lena Loop Road, which they will follow all the way back around to the start (being careful to take a left where the road forks at Ocean View Drive). 1k runners will take a right when they get to the intersection of the Picnic access road and Pt. Lena Loop Road and run to the marked turnaround and then return to the start/finish line. (76 records) | Dan Robinson leg+:no club:yes cup:yes results: yes pics:no |
Pioneer Rd (near end of N. Douglas Highway) May 8th 2021 (Saturday) 12:00PM | This is our 3rd Annual Foghorn Race on the Douglas Pioneer Rd, a challenging packed gravel road at the almost-end of N. Douglas Highway. This is a wide, closed-to-vehicles course, so at your discretion it is possible to run with friends and socially distance, as well as dogs! We are pleased to get a later-spring date, (thanks JTRR), so the snow/ice from nordic skiing is gone this year. Because this is a virtual event and you have a week to participate, you are also eligible to run more than one distance, as long as you register and pay for each race. Your NAO cup age-group points will be counted for each distance. Some advice: Pioneer road has a parking lot but is spotty on cell-phone coverage and has no toilets. There are port-o-potties near by at the Outer Point parking lot (and plenty of woods). (39 records) | Susan York leg+:no club:no cup:yes results: yes pics:yes |
Auke Lake Boat Launch Parking Lot May 1st 2021 (Saturday) 12:00PM | Summary: Start/Finish for BOTH 1 MILE AND 6.5 MILE RACES: At light pole on street at immediate intersection of Glacier Highway and Auke Lake Boat Ramp parking lot. Note for awareness and caution there may be parking lot work at times this week. (39 records) | Brian Goettler leg+:no club:yes cup:yes results: yes pics:yes |
Pavitt Health & Fitness (10004 Glacier Hwy) April 24th 2021 (Saturday) 12:00PM | Both the 1mile and 7k courses start and end at Pavitt Health and Fitness (10004 Glacier Hwy). The starting / ending point is on the right shoulder/bike lane of Glacier Hwy. facing downtown. Proceed on the shoulder / bike lane of the road, running with traffic for .2 miles toward the Brotherhood Bridge. Use the crosswalks to cross Industrial Blvd. Veer to the right of the Brotherhood bridge and follow the paved path under the bridge to connect to the Kaxdigoowu heen dei trail. Use the newly paved trail (not the old trail that is right up against the river). The one mile turnaround is .5 miles from the starting point - these runners will turn here and retrace the same course back to the starting point. 7k participants will proceed on the Kax trail until the 1/2 way turnaround point (~2.17 miles from start) where runners turn and retrace this course back to the starting point. Runners will be facing traffic on the .2 mile Glacier Hwy shoulder/bike lane on the return route. (54 records) | Kym Mauseth leg+:no club:yes cup:yes results: yes pics:yes |

The 10k course is along the Glacier Spur Road and turns right onto the Back Loop Road. The turnaround is approximately .3 miles past the Montana Creek Road intersection. Head back along the same route. If you are unable or do not wish to run the standard course, please run a no-vertical-loss 10k (6.21 miles), or 1 mile where you choose.
